DESCRIPTION
Antique English Victorian Saccharometer Loftus set. Antique cased apparatus used in the production of alcohol (wine & beer) to measure the concentration of sugar in a solution. Complete with original Saccharometer, thermometer & ruler. This antique scientific apparatus is contained within its original lined mahogany box with brass banding which helps date its manufacturing to between 1870 and 1880 when W R Loftus occupied the 146 Oxford st address.
