Lakota Indian Chief Oil Painting - Red Cloud
Vintage oil painting on canvas panel of a plains Indian chief. I believe this painting represents Red Cloud, chief of the Oglala Lakota. Dressed in traditional war bonnet this side view of the chief in his old age displays a regal and serene pose. His proud features are still retained through the hardened facial features which contrast superbly with the soft gentle feathers of the war bonnet.
This was recently acquired at the estate of a gentleman who had worked in the studios in the 1930's/40's, although I believe that this was painted in the 1950's. This would make a great birthday or housewarming gift.
Red Cloud Stamp in bottom left corner
A great addition to your vintage oil painting collection or your Native American home decor.
