Etched on front:WCTU, Oratorical Prize, For God Home and Native Land
Female crusaders established the WCTU in 1874 to campaign in favor of voting and legal rights for women and against alcohol consumption. With its motto of “Agitate-Educate-Legislate,” the WCTU led efforts to reform women and children’s welfare legislation.
This is a great piece of historical memorabilia for womens rights and the movement that led to the eventual prohibition movement.
