Antique Bianchetti Grain Seed Probe Sampler Leather Sheath Stiletto circa 1900
Antique Italian stiletto style grain sampler. Manufactured around the turn of the last century this antique seed probe was originally used in granaries for taking random samples from large sacks to test the quality. Resembling a stiletto style bayonet this Italian designed sampler was manufactured by Bianchetti and retains its original leather sheath. Made from cast steel the handle is constructed from leather rings which aids the grip in humid climates. These were heavily exported to Buenos Aires in the late 19th century by the emigrants from Italy where this item was recently acquired.
