Original late 19th century stoneware 4lb crock butter / lard tub with handle. This antique stoneware is embossed with a decorative rim glazed in a bright coffee brown which contrasts superbly with the off white colored body. The transfer image on the front depicts children dancing around a maypole underneath the company name "Maypole Dairy Co Ltd". The 4lb size is impressed beneath the handle. This is a strong and practical jug which could be used in an everyday kitchen or simply displayed as a decorative item.
