DESCRIPTION

Antique Temperance Army religious medal and ribbon. Featuring an enamel bar over a ribbon with an enamel Great Britain coat of arms inset to an eight sided star this Victorian enamel medal was worn by members of the Temperance army society who had been sober for 2 years. Members were awarded badges and medals according to their length of abstinence and service in encouraging others to lead a life of sobriety.

Medal measures 3.75" long by 1.75" diameter and weighs 1.2oz.
