Art Deco Bronze Sculpture "Le Bendeur' by Jean de Roncourt

Heavy bronze sculpture recast of art decor French art on a marble plinth. This original Art Deco sculpture was created by Jean de Roncourt, the most famous French sculptor of the male figure in the 1920s out of spelter (white metal). This later recast was created out of bronze in the USA in the 1980's.

The sculpture is called "Le Bendeur" (The Bender) , it depicts an athletic industrial worker bending a large metal rod by hand. This sculpture is widely regarded as de Roncourt's best work. The quality of the sculpting is very impressive.

This sculpture was cast by esteemed foundry Art Bronze in their California art foundry using over 30 lbs of pure bronze. This vintage bronze was cast from a limited edition of just 100 castings, this one being number 6. The sculpture is stamped with its individual casting number and carries the Art Bronze foundry seal on the underside of the metal rod.

The bronze sculpture is mounted onto a marbled brown and black marble base.

A great addition to your French sculpture, art bronze collection or industrial themed man cave.

MEASUREMENTS

Bronze sculpture on marble measures 21" high by 24" wide by 6" deep and altogether weighs 50 lbs 4oz.

CONDITION

In good used condition with very little signs of use commensurate with age, no cracks or breaks (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
