WW2 Portrait Gouache Painting by B Latham Kidder
Latham B Kidder original signed portrait painting. I believe this to be a gouache painting as it appears too thick for watercolor and too think for oil paint.
Dating from the 1930's/40s this stunning portrait painting is a rare find from the artist Latham B Kidder. Kidder was well known for his illustration that was famously published in the Nov. 19, 1932 issue of Liberty Magazine in an article entitled "What Hawaii Thinks of the Navy Now".
There is little known about this artist and is is extremely rare to find any of his works. This piece is beautifully iconic of what appears to be of a Cossack preventing a couple from leaving. It is reminiscent of a scene from Dr Zhivago. This was an acquisition from an estate in Beverly Hill.
