Vintage Original Signed Jose Clement Orozco Ink Painting Female Mexican Muralist

  • $ 3,00000

DESCRIPTION

Original signed ink painting by Jose Clement Orozco (1883 - 1949). Painted on paper with what appears to be ink this drawing/painting depicts a female nude in full length. This abstract style may reflect some political ideal as it shows a woman with one foot stuck in a plinth whilst her head is distorted upwards towards the sky and what appears to be a separation with her body (perhaps the dark heavy ink represents blood). An interesting original piece of artwork which is typical of Orozco's dark and complex style which is signed on the bottom right hand plinth.

No authentication paperwork accompanying this piece however the style and signature are consistent with the artists known work.

Provenance: Estate of a private art collection in Los Angeles, CA

José Clemente Orozco (1883-1949) was a Mexican painter, who specialized in political murals. Orozco along with Diego Rivera and David Sequieros, are known collectively as the "Big Three" and established "Mexican Muralism.". His drawings and paintings are exhibited by the Carrillo Gil Museum in Mexico City, and the Orozco Workshop-Museum in Guadalajara.

These would make a great addition to your eclectic home decor or fine art collection.
