Victorian French Cast Iron Bound Strong Box by Bauche Brevete
Antique safe made from cast iron in France around 1870. Manufactured as a safety lock box for storing either important documents or jewelry this was easily transported for the upwardly mobile lady or gentleman during the Victorian period. These were also used as diplomats lock boxes when traveling on the continent.
This was a fireproof safety box with padded insides which was instrumental in protecting its precious contents both inside and out.

This is a great addition to any safety box collection, vintage decoration or jewelry casket collection.
MEASUREMENTS
Antique safe dimensions:
The outside dimensions are: 14" long by 10" deep by 7.1" tall.
The inner dimensions are: 12" long x 8.5 deep x 5" tall
It weighs 42lbs 13oz.
CONDITION
In good condition with signs of use commensurate with age. There is no key for this safe but I believe one could be obtained (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
