Vintage heavy cast brass spittoon made for Burley & Co Chicago USA. Constructed in two parts this heavy door stop style spittoon is marked with the manufacturers name on the bottom. This highly polished antique spittoon was most likely used outside of a hotel, in the first class of a train or ship carriage due to its size and weight. In addition to the retail store, Burley did have a hotel and restauant supply division.

Burley and Company was founded in 1884 from the former Burley and Tyrell, who had advertised themselves as the largest importers of china and glassware. It is thought that they went out of business around 1917.

Spittoon measures 8" base diameter by 4.75" tall and weighs 7lb 7oz.
