Antique English c 1910 George V Government Wall Clock Ingram Bros Wood Green London

  • $ 44000

DESCRIPTION

Antique mahogany case English 12" wall clock. Manufactured by Ingram brothers of Wood Green,
London around 1910 this antique single fusee movement mechanism is housed within a rich wooden mahogany frame. The cream painted dial features the Roman numerals, maker's name, address and George V cipher which helps date it after 1910 and suggests that it was government property. The cipher usually indicated that it hung in a government building or public place like a train station, etc. The winding key and dial are included with this piece which came form a distinguished clock collection in Pasadena, California recently.

I believe this was originally hung in the General Post Office in Russell Square, London as attested by the following document in the clock.

Inside it is marked Admiral Block @ Kidbrook Room. The brass back to the mechanism is marked 4576.

Repair document inside movement door by M Whitty. Owner marked as GPO, Russell Square, Room 10
Small sticker marked: Kings Room

A fabulous addition to your clock collection or vintage home decor. A great housewarming gift or early holiday gift idea.
