DESCRIPTION

This antique nautical lighting meteorite ships marine lantern has a bail handle & a hinged cover with maker's brass plate marked "METEORITE 59732". This is a beautiful example of a rare marine antique lantern and perfect f you are interested in nautical lamps. It has a strap handle, colorless fresnal lens, interior fitted with a shutter controlled by an extended knob to the exterior, one exterior side fitted with a track for sliding door covering a small window to font, underside of base impressed "8", nickel-plated reflector, copper font with No. 2 inset collar. Fitted with a Sherwoods hinged lip burner, but the glass chimney appears to be missing. Early 20th century in date this was patented as number 411574.

CONDITION

In good condition (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description) with some paint loss commensurate with age, but missing the internal glass chimney piece.
