DESCRIPTION

Unusual vintage ceramic art bookend. Weird and very creepy clay sculpture of a seated bird in an almost gargoyle pose. This may have been one of a pair of bookends or simply an one off sculpture. It is a cross between a Maurice Sendak and a Martin brothers sculpture. Not signed anywhere, not surprising. This is definitely not one for the kids nursery. Not sure of the date on an item like this but it is at least 30 years old according to the previous owner. It is well made and in its own alien style a very attractive piece.

A perfect addition to your eclectic home decor or a fabulous housewarming gift idea. This would be a great addition to any ceramic sculpture collection or holiday gift idea.

This bookend measures 4.6" wide by 5" deep by 5.5" tall and weighs 4lb 5oz.

CONDITION

This sculpture is in good condition considering age and use, there is a crack in the base and some of the talons on the bottom are missing- please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description.
