DESCRIPTION

Vintage Wedgewood style caneware oval turkey pie/pate tureen. Game pie dishes are deep covered ceramic receptacles which are oval or circular in form and usually made of caneware to resemble piecrust. This dish depicts raised bas-relief ornaments of dead game and vine leaves, with the finial being a bird. Aesthetically beautiful with practical applications this would make a great addition to the holiday season kitchen.

This came from the Pasadena estate of a lady that was an editor of Bon Appetit and host to chefs like Julia Childs.

Tureen measures 12.5" wide by 9" deep by 6" tall and weighs 6lb 2oz.

CONDITION

This tureen is in good condition considering age and use. There is a small chip in the decoration at the bottom of the tureen - please see all pictures as they form part of the description.
